Carl was a great instructor. I learned a lot. I was not expecting the class to be as interactive as it was. Carl emphasized the main things he wanted us to remember and the exam we had to take was very thorough (to extraneous things or questions that were out of the blue). He took some extra time to go through some modules the last day of the class despite us being done; he allowed for me to to stay and learn some more! I really appreciated that. He took the time to correct our stance and proper handling of our firearms. Overall, I really enjoyed the class and appreciated the time Carl took to properly teach us. He's patient and understanding, but he is also very firm in how he expects you to do things, so make sure you're paying attention. ~ Karen G

Great class, lots of good information for conceal carry, guns, and the laws for firearms. Carl was a great instructor everything you could ever ask he’s funny, a great storyteller, and explains in detail. My class was awesome everyone was really friendly and i learned a lot about guns and the laws surrounding conceal carry holders in the state of Illinois. I would highly recommend carl and his class easily over any instructor. His prices were better than anyones online i found, i heard about him through word of mouth from a friend of mine. You will learn a lot taking carl’s class don’t disappoint yourself taking anyone else for your conceal carry. Carl is the most intelligible man I’ve come across in terms of gun and gun safety knowledge, laws, common sense and years and years of experience and wisdom. He is a patriot, he is serious and hilarious in what he does. He is simply the best conceal carry teacher there is. I will be recommending him to all my friends and family. Absolutely incredible ! Clean facility, easy to get to, even offers water, coffee, pop and chips free of charge. He wastes no time and answers all questions. He’s engaging and entertaining. Plus—gives away dope stickers. Please do h yourself a favor and take this course ! You also get the opportunity to get finger prints there at the office day 1 and leave with carrying insurance before you even leave on day 2. This is simply some of the best training available. I have had prior military weapons training so I have actual experience to measure CNC Academy training against. Carl’s training is, without a doubt, some of the best instruction I have received. The class consists of both instructor lead lessons and class participation demonstrations that fix the presented scenarios and concepts into the student’s mind. Carl’s teaching style, depth of subject matter knowledge, and interactive presentations keep his students actively engaged. I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed if you choose CNC Academy training. I also urge everyone with prior military experience to attend the full two-day training, even though the law doesn’t require it. You won’t be sorry you did. Carl is great. As a total newbie who has never used a gun before, he not only taught everything that I have to be aware of, but he spent time at the gun range to walk me through how to use a handgun safely. I will say, as an Indian American / person of color, I was at first feeling pretty self conscious coming to a concealed carry class (most Indians will know what I'm talking about -- the kind of suspicion people have, like "what is he doing here / could he have bad intentions??" even though we are from one of the most peaceful nations on Earth) -- but Carl was welcoming to all and very friendly and answered all questions. I will be a repeat customer. Looking forward to getting my concealed carry license and protecting my family and friends should a horrible situation ever arise, God forbid. I recently took this concealed carry license class and couldn't be more impressed. From start to finish, the course was incredibly well structured and informative. The instructor was not only extremely knowledgeable but also clearly passionate about firearm safety and education, which made the entire experience both engaging and impactful. What can i say Carl was amazing me and my sexy chocolate tender Ronnie. Took CCL classes for 16th-17th of September. So yes today we graduated the class was so friendly, fun, lots of learning clean environment carl was very knowledgeable, wise and a great trainer. He has wonderful jokes as well always kept us laughing. I've looked at other academy and schools for carry classes before taking this class. My expectations were not just met but exceeded. The classroom is very, very clean and relaxed. But you get the information necessary to know that when you carry, you can carry with purpose. Even though I used to carry in another state, I learned more updated information that will help me in the future. Carl is a great instructor and always professional as well as personable. He critiques without criticism and spins it positively to keep you focused. I highly recommend Carl and his Academy for beginners or even at other level looking to obtain a CCL. ~ Rocky T

If anyone is thinking of taking this class DO IT. I was worried about sitting in the same room for 16 hours total but Carl is great! Not only does he make you feel comfortable but his passion and knowledge for what he does keeps you fully engaged. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Smokeless gun rage was 10/10. What a fun way to practice and get you comfortable gripping and aiming the gun. As a beginner I was very nervous to go to the actual gun range and shoot. I took Carl's Illinois concealed carry classes and I cannot recommend his class enough. He was very knowledgeable and was very clear and helpful with any questions anyone had during the class. The smokeless range was by far the highlight of the class as not only was it a fun way to practice drawing from the holster, how to grip a gun, and point shooting, but I actually used some of that practice to improve my accuracy the next day at the range qualification part of the class. Again I highly recommend this class and Carl to anyone looking to take a ccl class or any other class he offers. ~ Preston

recently i lost my father who was supposed to educate me on gun etiquette, unfortunately he never taught me but i found the best possible man to learn from. not only was carl extremely knowledgeable, patient, and authoritative, he made the classroom learning portion entertaining. we took part in a smokeless range in class where he taught us to properly handle a firearm. one by one, he would correct us. safety first, always. i highly recommend taking carl’s class to any beginner or any experienced shooter. carl knows his stuff and is happy to help others. thank you so much carl. ~ NATALIE H

Our istructor Carl was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and entertaining. It was so obvious that this was not just a job for him but he really cares that you are prepared and safe. He gets all of your questions answered. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about guns I guarantee that Carl will teach you something. The shooting drills and scenario's that we ran through are so helpful to understand how the law is applied to real life and how actual decisions need to be made in a self defense scenario. Carl made a complicated process very easy and understandable. I thought I had basic gun knowledge but boy was I wrong! I learned so much, even some things I never even would have thought of. I highly encourage people of all skill levels to take the course, you will walk out with a new respect for the 2nd amendment. Here is a bit of A weird but short story, I live all the way in Beach Park which meant I had to do a google search to even find this class over many others . Anyway What stood out to me about this class, over every other class was the fact that that there were weekday classes. Talk about convenience and pricing is really good. Overall Carl is a great instructor and The reviews tell the whole story as to the type of guy he is. I enjoyed the class and got a lot of value out of it. Highly recommend!! ~ Darrius B

I advice everyone who owns a gun to attend this Academy classes even if you are not applying for a Concealed carry permit you will benefit a lot from a great teaching & training by a great instructor Carl. Carl is an excellent instructor. I've been shooting all my life and still learned a lot from him. In particular where you can and cannot carry. There were a couple students who had not ever shot a gun before. He went through all the basic of firearm manipulation and at the end of the class I felt confident that they understood the basics. He also went over gear which was very important for a new shooter or ccw user. I would recommend his class to anyone that is experienced or not as you will learn from him. ~ Trevor W

Top notch service and knowledge for CCL. I took my renewal course today and couldn't ask for a better instructor. Carl is very knowledgable with current events and laws that we need to know. What a class. I learned so much in my 2-day CCL class. The knowledge this man has is endless. The simulation was so detailed and real. Stuff I learned about use of force and when was a big focus and I now feel comfortable on when (hope never) to use force. Clean, neat classroom. The field trip to the gun range was great. This course provided valuable and applicable information. Compared to another concealed carry license class I took in a neighboring state, this one offered significantly more useful knowledge. 2-8 hour classes may appear lengthy, but they were both enjoyable and educational, and the time passed very quickly. I would highly recommend! If you are hesitant due to the time commitment of 16 hours, I strongly encourage you to enroll in THIS course. I personally delayed mine for two years and am very pleased that I decided to take it. ~ Jon M

I just recently started looking into getting my CCL and it was also my first time handling a firearm. As most of you in this scenario know, it can be quite intimidating. Best class I have taken really glad I took it with him. He is very knowledgeable any question you have he'll answer it and he goes beyond any expectations you have.
